| Cesar
Issac Cazárena Mata |
| | |
| Cesar
is age 10, has diastrophic dysplasia, a form of dwarfism. His feet were turned
almost upside down, and his big toes stuck out much like a hitchhiker's thumb.
Walking was very painful, and wearing shoes was impossible. Cesar lives in Jalisco,
south of Mexico City. It takes 32 hours for him and his father to reach the Crippled
Children's Clinic. Cesar was the first patient flown out of Mexico, instead of
Arizona, to the Spokane Shriners Hospital. There, doctors operated on his feet
so he can now wear shoes and braces and walk with a walker. Dr. Glen Baird of
Spokane Shriners Hospital knows him fairly well from his stay there and says that
Cesar is very smart and polite. |
